Introduction
DLCinteractive ("we", "our", "us") operates MinaSpark, a spelling and math practice application for children. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you and your child use MinaSpark.
MinaSpark is designed for children under 13 years of age, used under the supervision of a parent or guardian. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and are committed to protecting your family's privacy.
Information We Collect
From Parents/Guardians
- Email address — used for account authentication via one-time passcode (OTP). We do not use passwords.
From Children (entered by parent)
- Child's first name — used to personalize the experience. We do not collect last names.
- Spelling practice data — word lists, practice attempts, scores, and response times.
- Math practice data — multiplication facts practiced, scores, and response times.
- Stars and achievement data — earned through practice sessions and daily challenges.
Information We Do NOT Collect
- No advertising identifiers or tracking data
- No location data
- No photos or images (camera is used only for real-time word scanning and images are not stored)
- No device identifiers sold or shared with third parties
- No social features or user-generated content shared publicly
- No contact lists, messages, or browsing history
How We Use Information
We use the collected information solely to:
- Authenticate the parent/guardian account
- Provide personalized spelling and math practice for each child
- Track learning progress and adapt practice difficulty
- Award stars and track daily challenge completion
- Respond to support requests
We do not use any collected information for advertising, marketing to children, or profiling.
Data Storage and Security
All data is stored securely using Supabase, a US-based database service. Data is protected by:
- Row-Level Security (RLS) — each family can only access their own data
- Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit
- No data is stored on the device beyond the current session cache
Third-Party Services
MinaSpark uses the following third-party services to operate:
- Supabase — database and authentication
- OpenAI — text-to-speech for word pronunciation and spelling assistance. No child data is sent to OpenAI; only the word text is transmitted for audio generation.
- Google Cloud Vision — optical character recognition for scanning printed word lists. Images are processed in real time and are not stored.
We do not use any advertising SDKs, analytics trackers, or social media integrations.
Parental Rights
As a parent or guardian, you have the right to:
- Review your child's data — all practice data is visible within the app
- Delete your child's data — delete a child profile from the Profile tab to permanently remove all their data
- Delete your account — contact us at support@hey-mina.com to request complete account deletion
- Withdraw consent — you may stop using the app at any time; contact us to have all data removed
Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete a child profile, all associated practice data is permanently deleted. If you request account deletion, all data including the parent email and all child profiles is permanently removed within 30 days.
Advertising
MinaSpark contains no advertisements. We do not display ads, use advertising SDKs, or share any data with advertisers. There are no in-app purchases.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of MinaSpark after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
